For founder Drew Molla, Scruffy City Construction began with a homecoming. An East Tennessee native, Drew attended college after high school before pursuing a military career. Following more than a decade of military service and a career in the U.S. government, he returned to Knoxville to raise a family and invest in the community that shaped him.
Seeing vacant homes and untapped potential throughout downtown Knoxville, Drew began restoring properties with a purpose: create new opportunities for families while preserving the character of the neighborhoods they would call home.
Along the way, Mike Lundy joined the team as an electrician. His experience quickly proved broader than his original role. Raised by a contractor, Mike brought hands-on remodeling experience and the ability to lead projects from start to finish. Mike took on the role of Senior Manager, bringing that experience to the leadership of our team and the coordination of our projects. A fellow military veteran, he and Drew shared a commitment to accountability, craftsmanship, and following through.
What began as a small venture has grown into more than ten years of service to Greater Knoxville. Today, Scruffy City Construction brings that same care to new homes, renovations, commercial projects, and electrical services—with a team that takes pride in its work and its community.
